Owo Attack: Governor Akeredolu Issues Directive to Honour Victims – Legit.ng

  • Condolences, tributes, donations and prayers were sent to the families of the victims

Ondo, Akure – Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has ordered all public buildings, facilities and official residences to fly all flags in the state for seven days at half-staff in honor of the victims of the Owo terrorist attack on Sunday.

Akeredolu made the announcement on Monday, June 6 in a statement by its spokesman Richard Olatunde.

Attack on believers was premeditated – Governor Akeredolu

He stated that d he attack on innocent believers at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo was a deliberate and calculated attack on the state’s population.

He said:

“Those who unleashed this unprovoked terrorist attack on our people have tested our collective resolve. We will not be deterred from responding appropriately to this heinous act.

“In honor of the victims of this unfortunate attack, I hereby direct that all flags be flown at half-mast for seven days beginning today, Monday , June 6, to Sunday, June 12, 2022. It is a collective loss for the people of our dear state.”

Governor Akeredolu vows to catch killers of Catholic Church believers in Owo

In a further development, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has vowed to hunt down the terrorists behind the killing of innocent people in Owo.

Remember, worshipers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo were gunned down by suspected Fulani terrorists.

Governor Akeredolu urged the state’s people , not to legislate about the incident in their own hands.

Ondo Shootout: Police Launch Forensic Investigation to Hunt Attackers

Meanw However, Ondo Police Command has revealed that around four Attackers attacked St. Francis Catholic Church in the Owo State Local Government.

Initial police investigations show the attackers fired on worshipers from outside the church before they gained access to the building.

The Ondo State Police Commissioner has ordered a forensic investigation to determine the root cause(s) of the attack and to arrest the criminals immediately.
