Owo Catholic church killing: No terrorists attack during Mimiko’s tenure, Yahaya Bello says – Legit.ng

Governor Yahaya Bello has deplored the attack on the faithful of St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, the headquarters of Owo County, Ondo State.

Several members of the congregation were killed in the attack during the service.

The Kogi State Governor seen on TV on Sunday 5 June , also commented There was no such attack during the tenure of the state’s former governor, Olusegun Mimiko.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the current governor of the state, hails from Owo , the site of the recent terrorist attack.

The outspoken governor, who was in Abuja to prepare for the forthcoming All Progressives Congress presidential election, returned to the state immediately at the time of the attack to conduct an on-site assessment of the situation and nd sharing in the people’s grief.

Akeredolu, who also chairs the Southwest Governors’ Forum, has insisted the ruling party must move its presidential ticket to southern Nigeria if she hopes to retain the presidency in 2023.

The Ondo state governor has also appealed to the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential hopefuls from the North to opt out withdraw from the presidential campaign.

However, Governor Yahaya Bello has declined to run, abandoning his presidential ambitions.

Also, Akeredolu has been blunt about situations in the ruling party, making warning statements from time to time. It is believed that most of these pronouncements (due to their boldness and frankness) did not go well for some party leaders.
