It was a black and tearful moment during the funeral of the victims of the terrorist attack at Saint Francis Catholic Church , Owaluwa, Owo, Ondo State.
Not even Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his wife Betty Anyawu could hold back their tears during the funeral service on Friday, June 17, Vanguard reports.
The Federal Governor’s Speech esstaates Ondo was punctuated by weeping and heavy sighs as he expressed regrets, something residents of the state will never forget. Indeed, most Nigerians.
Akeredolu, noting that lacking the right words to describe what happened, stated that he failed his people not because his government failed to try to protect the people, but largely due to the fact that the evil companions had support .
“We failed to defend these people. Not because we didn’t try, but because these forces are evil on the other side and have support. They will not triumph over us forever.
“When I see the sea of heads that are here; it speaks volumes. What happened to us in Owo, Ondo State, is beyond words.
“Many words are used to define it: insidious, horrifying. But I still believe there are words to describe it, but I’m still at a loss for words.
“We only have 22 (deceased) in this room. Some of them were buried because their relatives could not wait until today. But as at last count, these animals entered the church and murdered 40 people.”
