- President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as a member of the Health Sector Reform Committee
- The committee established by the President on Monday has Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as its chairman.
- Some prominent medical professionals such as Health Minister Osagie Ehanire are also members of the committee.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has been named a member of the Health Sector Reform Program, chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The committee was initiated and inaugurated on Monday, September 6th, by President Muhammadu Buhari, reports The Cable.
According to one of the media advisors by President Buhari, Garba Shehu, is to develop and implement reforms in this sector.
Other members of the committee are Health Minister Osagie Ehanire and the Presidents of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, National Association of Nigeria Nurses & Midwives, and Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Vanguard.
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Vesta Healthcare Partners will act as observers on the committee.

Previously, President Buhari had approved the establishment of a Health Sector Reform Committee to work with state governments to develop and implement a reform program for the health sector for Nigeria and the FCT administration.
The committee would undertake a review of all health reforms adopted over the past two decades as well as the lessons learned and put them into development of the new reform program for the health sector.
The committee, set up for a period of six months under the chairmanship of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, consists of members from the private and public sectors, including experts the healthcare and development partners, representatives of the National Assembly and the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), among others.
President Buhari also approved the appointment of Dr. Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa as the new General Director of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
