FCT, Abuja – The Nigerian Police (NPF) has appointed the former Chair of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
According to a Daily Trust report, Magu’s promotion was confirmed by the Police Commission (PSC) in May.

Magu’s EFCC Ordeal
In 2020, while Magu was still in office as head of affairs for the EFCC, he was arrested, imprisoned and suspended as acting chairman of the anti-graft agency .
He appeared before a panel investigating allegations of gross misconduct against him.
The panel was subsequently dismissed by Judge Ayo Salami later recommended Magu’s removal as EFCC chief “because he was N431,000,000.00 security votes/informat ion fund that was released to the Office of the Executive Chairman of EFCC between November 2015 and May 2020”.
However, Magu denied all allegations against him. So far, the federal government has not released the white paper on the Salami Panel report.
