- President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Semiu Adeyemi Adeniran, the Federation’s new General Statistician.
- Adeniran has also been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS)
- The appointment is included in a statement issued by the Office of the Minister for State, Budget and National Planning< /li>
< p class="align-left">Semiu Adeyemi Adeniran has been appointed Statistician General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) by President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was released in a statement on Friday May 20 by Sufuyan Ojeifo, a media adviser to Minister for State, Budget and National Planning Prince Clem Agba.
The appointment of Adeniran, as contained in the statement released by Ojeifo, is effective immediately, reports The Cable .
The appointment was necessitated by the death of Simon Harry, former Federation Statistician General.
The declaration read in part:
“Semiu Adeniran is a respected professional statistician with a penchant for demographics and social statistics. He has over three decades of practical statistical experience gained at various local and international institutions.
“Previous to his appointment, Mr. Semiu was Director of Population and Household Statistics at the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS ). .”
A TVC News report revealed that Adeniran is a renowned professional statistician with a penchant for demographics and social statistics.
He has more than 30 years of practical statistical experience from various local and international institutions.
Prior to that he was Director of Population and Household Statistics at the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). of his last appointment.

Meanwhile, Buhari had the appointment of Dr. Adamu Tutuwa as Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO), Lagos.
This was included in a statement issued by the Secretary of State of the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Monilola Udoh, in Lagos on Friday, May 20.
Tutuwa’s extensive experience in scientific research and development, so the declaration would be a useful tool to give FIIRO a further push into the community of renowned science, technology and research nations.
