President Buhari Reacts to Killing of Nigerian Army Couple by IPOB, ESN Outlaws – Legit.ng

FCT, Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari authorized the arrest of suspects in the gruesome murder of a military couple in the state Imo are responsible.

According to the Daily Trust newspaper, the president made the statement on Wednesday, May 4 through his spokesman, Garba Shehu.

As the statement shows, the President condemned the act, lending his hatchet to the deceased’s surviving family id.

Meanwhile, President Buhari, who joined in the mourning of Nigerians, described the killing as barbaric and unhappy, declaring that he is alien to all cultures and civilizations.

The President called on all leaders – local, regional and national – to “vote with one voice speak to show that the whole country is opposed to this cruel and barbaric act of violence. This is unacceptable.

He said:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of this sad and tragic incident.”

Army Couple: Nigerian Army Respond

Similarly, in its response, the Nigerian Army stated that an investigation was launched to uncover the killers of two military couples from Members of IPOB and ESN fighters.

The Nigerian Army described the killing as a barbaric and cruel act and stated that justice would be done for the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the Army has asked the general public to help step up the investigation by providing any information needed to help expedite the process.

Meanwhile, the alleged militant who reportedly killed the army couples en route to their traditional wedding has confessed to the crime.

According to an audio On recording, the militant claimed the young couple had been killed in retaliation for the army action.

The victims were reportedly on their way to their traditional wedding in Imo state when they arrived were killed in an unknown location.
