A former lawmaker from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which represented Kaduna’s Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani, said the terrorists who, on Sunday, June 5, attacked the Catholic Church St. Francis in the town of Owo in the state of Ondo angri wanted to open up, seek revenge and national unrest.
Sani explained why the attackers committed such a bloody act in a post shared on his official Facebook page.
He wrote:
“The attack on the Catholic Church in Ondo has been strongly condemned and denounced by all Nigerians.
“Terrorists represent no Hausa or Fulani people. Terrorists do not spare Muslims either. The North is also a daily victim of their cruelty and destruction. No Hausa or Fulani living in any part of the South should be attacked or harassed for the evil doings of these terrorists, just as no Southerner living in the North should be harassed for the actions of terrorists in the South.
“Terrorists intend to incite vendetta, violence and national unrest; they must not succeed.”
The attack
The violence began when Worshipers were about to leave the church.
The attack caused massive shock across the country, as one is rarely recorded in south-west Nigeria.

Buhari reacts t, as terrorists kill several people in the Catholic Church of Ondo State
President Muhammad u Buhari denounced the heinous killing of believers on Sunday June 5 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo Kingdom, Ondo State.
The President says only fiends from the sub-region could have conceived and carried out such an insidious act , adding that eternal suffering awaits them both here on earth and ultimately in the afterlife.
Buhari revealed this in a statement issued by his special adviser on media and public relations , Femi Adesina.

In the meantime, the government of Ondo State vowed to attack the St. Francis Catholic Church in the stad t Owo on Sunday, where scores of believers died, and said they would pay for their crime.
A statement from the Chief Press Secretary to Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN Richard Olatunde, on Sunday, who revealed the government's position, also said the governor had condemned the unprovoked attack on innocent believers.
He said:< /p>
“Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu , SAN is deeply saddened by the unprovoked attack and killing of innocent people from Owo who were praying at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street on Sunday ."
