Responsib’All Day: Pernod Ricard Nigeria partners Nigerian Conservation Foundation on tree planting exercise –

Lagos, Nigeria, June 2022 – Pernod Ricard Nigeria, the local subsidiary of Pernod Ricard, a global leader in wines and spirits, celebrates the 10th edition of Responsib’All Day. This year’s theme, implemented in partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), Nigeria’s leading conservation and sustainable development NGO, focuses on the protection and restoration of nature and biodiversity in line with Pernod Ricard’s commitment to nurturing Terroirs.

Introduced in 2011, Responsib’All Day is in line with Pernod Ricard’s 2030 Sustainability and Responsibility Plan. Good Times from a Good Place’. This year, more than 18,500 Pernod Ricard employees worldwide are getting involved by volunteering for a variety of community projects to inspire, learn, engage and educate their local communities how they can affect the environment. In Nigeria, the day was marked with the planting of 2,000 tree seedlings at various locations including Old Oyo National Park, Sapateri, Oyo State; Panatlantic University, Ibeju-Lekki; Omo Forest Reserve, J4, Ogun State; Lagos Business School, Lekki, and then rounded up at the Lekki Conservation Centre, Lagos.

Sola Oke, Managing Director, Pernod Ricard Western Africa, said: “As ‘Créateurs de Convivialité’, our mission is to unravel the magic of human connection by bringing good times from a good place while we Influencing our communities in our efforts to build a more sustainable and responsible world without excess. We are excited to partner with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation to bring our vision to life while playing our part in protecting the environment.”

The Nigerian Conservation Foundation is driven by the vision of a Nigeria where people thrive and live in harmony with nature. This vision further advances his mission to conserve the full range of Nigerian biodiversity; promoting the sustainable use of natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations; and advocate measures that minimize pollution and the wasteful use of renewable resources. For Responsib’All Day they provided expertise in selecting the different seedlings needed at the different sites; and will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the trees.

“Conservation projects that help improve our communities received, such as the Responsib’All Day, are essential to society’s progress,” said Uchenna Achunine, director of business development and communications at the Nigerian Conservation Foundation. “Pernod Ricard Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the well-being of our communities and the wider world is truly inspiring and we are proud to boldly support and celebrate their efforts.”

Responsib’All Day is celebrated by Pernod Ricard employees worldwide and reflects the Pernod Ricard Group’s long-term commitment to sustainability and responsibility. Most recently, the company ran its Safe Roads campaign in Nigeria during the Christmas and Easter celebrations in partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The initiative included engagements with commercial drivers who were educated on the dangers of drinking, driving and other risks associated with irresponsible drinking and its impact on society at large. Additionally, in 2021, the company launched its “Drink More Water” campaign — a digital campaign aimed at encouraging young adults to consume more water to reduce binge drinking — which continues to impact people’s lives across Nigeria.
