Sokoto State Community Defies Sultan, Observes Eid Prayers –

  • A community held Eid prayers in defiance against the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar.
  • The Sultan who Leaders of the Nigerian Islamic community had declared that Monday April 2nd would be celebrated as Eid-ul-Fitr for all Muslims in the country
  • Sheikh Musa Lukwa, the community leading prayers in the Sokoto said the moon had been sighted in the state and neighboring Republic of Niger.

Sokoto – < /strong>A report by the Daily Trust newspaper points out that some Muslims in Sokoto state performed Eid prayers on Sunday May 1st, despite orders from Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto, who said Monday , April 2, as Eid-ul-Fitr.

On Saturday, the Sultan, who is the head of all Muslims in Nigeria, announced that the new moon of Shawwal , 1443 AH, was not sighted.

According to the report of the Muslims, most of whom are followers of Sheikh Musa Lukwa, observed the Eid around 8am.

For his part, Sheikh Lukwa said they had received credible reports of sightings of the Eid New Moon in some parts of Nigeria and beyond, adding that the moon had been sighted in five states in the neighboring Republic of Niger

His words:

“I saw the video clip of their President declaring Sunday as Sallah Day. And the moon has been sighted in Afghanistan, Mali and many African countries and they are observing their oath today.

“Even in Sokoto, the new crescent moon was sighted in a community called Fakku in the Kebbe Municipality by eight people , including the chief imam of the community. And 50 people confirmed the new moon sighting in Wauru Village in the Gada Municipality of the state.”

Sallah: Tinubu distributes 3,000 sacks of rice to Muslims in Nasarawa

As the Sallah celebration approaches, former Lagos state governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu distributed 3,000 sacks of rice to Muslim believers in Nasarawa state.

Tinubu called for the beneficiaries during the distribution of the rice sacks on Friday April 29 in Lafia, not to sell the rice but to use it for its intended purpose and said the gesture also aims to improve their standard of living.

The former governor was represented by Nasarawa State Coordinator Bola Ahmed Tinubu Asiwaju Campaign Organization, Yusuf Omaki.

Eid-el Fitr, Workers’ Day: FG gives appointments known for holidays

Remember that the Nigerian government has declared Monday 2nd May and Tuesday May 3 as public holidays to mark Labor Day and Eld-el-Fitr celebrations.

The Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement in a statement released by the Ministry’s permanent secretary, Shuaib Belgore, on Thursday, April 28.

Aregbesola congratulated also to all Muslims on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.
