The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Friday debunked claims that the exact amount of crude oil produced in the country is unknown.
Paul Osu, Head of Public Affairs, DPR, in a A statement released in Lagos states that every liter of crude oil produced in the country has been adequately recorded during the production process.
Osu said it is the responsibility of the DPR to monitor crude oil production as a basis and take into account the determination of the process Government income from license fees from operators for sustainable development.
He said: “As a further step in accelerating the raw material settlement process from production to export, DPR recently introduced the National Production Monitoring System (NPMS).
“NPMS is an online platform for the direct and independent collection of production data from oil and gas plants in Nigeria.
” NPMS as an electronic data transfer tool at production and export terminals was developed by better predict the performance of oil and gas reserves and better forecast production. “
The NPMS tool enables DPR to carry out monitoring, production monitoring and data analysis for usage and forecasting.
