Dino Melaye blames Gang-up for his defeat in the primary for Kogi West’s Senate nomination

Former lawmaker Dino Melaye has blamed the gang for his loss in the election primary of Senate nominee Kogi West on the People’s Democratic Party platform.
The incumbent member of the House of Representatives representing the Kabba-Buni/Ijumu federal constituency defeated Melaye on Tuesday.
Yusuf beat Melaye in the re-election to win Kogi West’s senator nomination platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
T he election held on Monday ended in a stalemate as both candidates garnered 88 votes each.
In Tuesday’s runoff, however, Yusuf scored 163 votes while Dino Melaye got 99 votes, ending Melaye’s hopes of a Senate return in the 10th National Assembly.
When the elections commissioner, Stephen Onoji, announced the results on Tuesday, there was cheering from Yusuf’s supporters.
Melaye congratulated Yusuf and tweeted: “The primary was fought and won. I congratulate Hon. T.J YUSUF and thank everyone who voted for me on the first and second ballots.
“The gang is beyond imagination, but I praise God. God bless you all. SDM.”
In response, Yusuf Extended challenged his competitors to join him to win the general election.
He commended the peaceful conduct of the primary and promised to continue his good work if he was re-elected in the general election.
Melaye, who represented the district as a senator from 2015 to 2019, was defeated by incumbent Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressive Congress in a 2019 Senate rerun. Victor Adoji secured a ticket to fly the PDP flag in next February’s parliamentary elections.
