Aso Rock, Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Professor Yusuf Ahmed as the new Chairman / Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of. appointed Nigeria’s Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC).
Premium Times reported the appointment in one of Willie Bassey, the information director for the secretary’s office of the Federation Government on Friday September 10th.
Ahmed’s appointment is expected to take effect on Friday September 3rd, Thisday also reported.

He has been trained by various international laboratories in reactor physics, nuclear data and nuclear safety, radioisotope production, waste management, decommissioning and radioanalytical techniques.
Ahmed began his career in nuclear science and technology in 2000 at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria as part of the Nigeria Research Reactor -1 (NIRR-1) scientific staff at the Center for Energy Research and Training (CERT).
He rose and became 2017 professor for nuclear physics and from 2015 to 2019 director and laboratory manager of the center.
He was active in various national and international committees for nuclear safety.
NAEC was founded in 1976 with the mandate to build and maintain nuclear facilities for the purpose of generating electricity and fulfilling other important tasks.
President Buhari takes three more appointments ahead
In another related report, days after the dismissal of two ministers, President Buhari has approved from his cabinet the appointment of three new chiefs for some departments of the Federal Ministry of Education.
The new appointments in the Ministry of Education were announced by a Ministry spokesman, Bem Goong, in a statement on Wednesday September 8th.
He has named the new appointees as Prof. Akpama Ibar, Prof. Chinwe Anunobi and Prof Replacement
Meanwhile, President Buhari Basheer has deposed Mohammed as Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Human Trafficking (NAPTIP).
The President also quickly appointed Fatima Waziri-Azi as the agency’s new General Director. The appointment followed a recommendation from the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs Sadiya Umar Farouq.
The Minister stated that Waziri-Azi’s recommendation was based on her long experience and ability to advance NAPTIP, to get the most important result.
