ActionSA donates water tanks in KZN areas without supply

Residents of Tongaat and Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal received much-needed water tanks after being without a water supply for a month.

Due to damage to water infrastructure caused by flooding over the past month, are residents now depend on water delivered by municipal water tankers.

ActionSA council members, who had collected donations for the tankers and 1,000 5 liter water bottles, were in Tongaat, KwaDukuza and Inhlazuka on Saturday to help with the To help alleviate water shortages in the areas.

ActionSA consultant for eThekwini, Busi Radebe, said they were responding to an urgent need as residents of Tongaat went without running water for 34 days.


Seven 5,000L tankers were delivered in Tongaat and Inhlazuka, a rural community near Pietermaritzburg under the Umsunduzi parish, which was also without water.

ActionSA councillors Ed Faizel Cassim from Newcastle, who was born and raised in Tongaat, mobilized people to help the community. p>

Radebe said 1,000 5l bo Bottles were distributed in and around KwaDukuza on Saturday afternoon and evening.
