A Durban tanker driver was allegedly kidnapped and attacked by three armed men who were unloading the vehicle he was transporting.
According to a local security company, the incident happened early Tuesday morning.
< "PT Alarms units came to the rescue after a trucker was allegedly kidnapped and found assaulted and handcuffed in his vehicle on the old Airport Road in Isipingo, south of Durban, early Tuesday morning," the company said.< /p> p>
A taxi driver sounded the alarm because the tanker driver was in distress.
A team followed the taxi driver to the scene and found a tanker truck on the side of the road.
“Upon further inspection and calling for the driver, he replied from inside the truck that he had been tied up and kidnapped.
“The truck driver was tied up with cable ties. He claimed he was kidnapped at the M7/N2 intersection by three armed suspects in a white BMW.”
The driver was allegedly assaulted.
“He claimed the kidnappers drove the truck to an undisclosed location, dumped the tanker truck and left it on the old Airport Road.”
PT Alarms said police were alerted and arrived at the scene.
