A Ballito woman charged with the murder of her four-year-old daughter clutched a shopping bag during a brief appearance Thursday at the KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court.
The woman groped during her brief appearance a shy figure in the dock and looked directly at the judge.
Magistrate Blanche van Heerden asked the media in court not to reveal the woman’s identity as she has a 10-year-old child who is living on the south coast lives with biological father.
“I would hate a situation where the child is being bullied and bullied at school,” said Van Heerden.
According to a police statement, the uMhlali police after complaining that the child died.
When police arrived at the house, they were reportedly told by the mother that “the child had been difficult” and worried. The child, whose hands were bound with tape, was drowned in a bucket of water.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
