Due to an ongoing loss of generation capacity, Stage 2 load shedding will be performed on Sunday from 17:00 to 22:00 and Stage 3 on Monday and Tuesday evenings, Eskom announced on Sunday.
” On Monday and Tuesday evenings at the same time, level 3 load shedding is performed. After that, load shedding will be reduced to level 2 for the rest of the week.”
The performance The utility said it will continue to monitor the system closely, making adjustments and communicating any changes.
Since Saturday evening, there have been one unit outages at each of the Tutuka, Camden and Majuba power plants. One power generation unit each at the Hendrina and Majuba power plants was restarted on Sunday.
“We currently have 2,094 MW for planned maintenance, while another 17,640 MW of capacity is unavailable due to outages.< p>“Eskom calls on all South Africans to help limit the impact of load shedding by reducing power consumption and turning off all non-essential devices.
“Eskom would like to remind the public that load shedding will only implemented as a last resort to protect the national power grid. We therefore call on all South Africans to continue to use electricity sparingly, especially in the morning between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and in the evening between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m..”
