During the first three months of this year, 306 children were murdered, a 37.2% increase from the same time last year.
Children are defined as males and females aged 17 and under .
The quarterly crime statistics were reported to Parliament on Friday morning before being released to the country at noon. The statistics compare level 1 lockdown this year to level 3 last year.
Police said attempted murder of 331 children was committed, a 6.8% decrease from the same time last year, and 1,937 children were attacked, a 12.7% increase.
