Eleven children hurt in Durban taxi crash

Eleven children from Durban were injured when a minibus taxi taking them to school collided with another vehicle on Friday morning.

ALS Paramedics spokesman Garrith Jamieson said the accident happened on the M4 near Merebank, south of Durban, around 7am.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene and found that two vehicles had collided at the T-bone junction” , he said.

“Several children were found on the street and a triage system was put in place and more ambulances and paramedics were dispatched to help.

“A total of 11 children suffered various injuries and was stabilized at the scene and transported to nearby hospitals in Durban for further treatment as needed.

“The incidents leading up to the accident are unknown but police were at the scene and are investigating .”
