Eskom suspends load-shedding — for now

Electric utility Eskom on Sunday announced the suspension of load shedding due to a “marginal improvement” in power generation capacity.

Eskom has been conducting load shedding due to power generation for three weeks now, amid restrictions imposed by outages of power generation units in several power plants and some units undergoing scheduled maintenance.

In a statement Sunday, Eskom said 13,805 MW of power generation capacity is still down due to outages and another 4,331 MW is unavailable due to scheduled maintenance available.

However, the power generation system is still limited and will be carefully monitored.

The public was urged to continue to use electricity sparingly.
