Eskom to suspend load-shedding from 9pm on Friday

Eskom says it will suspend load shedding on Friday at 9:00 p.m. as seven power plants are back in operation.

The contested electricity company said one block each in the Kendal, Camden and Kendal power plants Grootvlei and two blocks, the Majuba and Matimba power plants, are both back in operation.

Eskom spokesman Sikonathi Mantshantsha said two units at the Majuba power plant had failed and another unit was shut down overnight for emergency repairs.

He said that one unit in each of the Grootvlei and Tutuka power stations was triggered.

“Two of the five units have now been put back into operation,” he said.

The total outages now amount to 14,960 MW, while the planned maintenance has a capacity of 3,345 MW.
