Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana on Wednesday appointed veteran National Treasury official Ismail Momoniat as the body’s acting director-general after the previous head decided not to renew his contract.
In April, the Treasury said , Dondo Mogajane would leave the post of Director General in June “to pursue new opportunities outside the public sector after 23 years at the Treasury”.
Momoniat has worked at the Treasury for 27 years, 22 of which as deputy general director . More recently, his focus has been on tax and financial sector policies.
“I am confident that Mr. Momoniat will keep a steady hand at the organisation’s treasury and steer the department to fulfill our strategic agenda and while ensuring continuity.” Godongwana said.
