A 30-year-old man from Mpumalanga was tried on trial for murder after a two-year-old girl died from suspected poisoning.
Brig Selvy Mohlala said two of the girl’s relatives were relatives “Fight for their lives in the hospital”. The incident occurred on Wednesday.
“Unfortunately, a two-year-old girl died in the process. Meanwhile, a four-year-old boy and her 59-year-old grandfather are fighting for their lives in the hospital. A 30-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with the incident, ”said Mohlala.
On Wednesday evening, the 26-year-old mother prepared the children’s meals in Mooiplaas near Elukwatini. before dinner for her family, Mohlala said.
“Her male friend reportedly told her there was something burning in the kitchen, but she said the stove was off. The male friend allegedly went into the kitchen and then returned.
“Later the woman is said to have covered for both her father and her two children. The male friend allegedly refused to eat on the grounds that he would have the food later, and the woman allegedly did not eat as well as it is said that she often ate in the same bowl with her male friend. ”< / p>
A few moments later, Mohlala said that the two children were starting to vomit.
“Her grandfather also stood in the queue in which the rescue workers were called. But on their arrival the younger one was pronounced dead. Both the boy and the woman’s father were taken to hospital for treatment.
“The police in Elukwatini have been informed of the incident and an appropriate case has been initiated. An investigation has been carried out and the preliminary results suggest that the family members were the victims of alleged poisoning. ”
The suspect appeared on Friday in the district court of Chief Albert Luthuli in Elukwatini. He is facing charges of murder and double attempted murder.
