Gauteng cops seize R10m in stolen copper, arrest four

Gauteng police have seized R10 million worth of stolen copper in Lenasia, Johannesburg.

Provincial police spokesman Col Dimakatso Sello said officers arrested four suspects on Thursday , after investigating information about stolen copper in the suburbs.

“Upon arriving at the specified location, members found a truck with two trailers loaded with copper plates. Two other empty trailers were found at the site and further investigation determined the trailer was stolen when a case was opened in Kempton Park. Four suspects have been arrested and are soon due to appear before a magistrates’ court on possession of stolen property.

“Police efforts in Gauteng to combat non-ferrous metal crimes continue to bear positive results,” Sello said.
