South Africans are gearing up for the start of tax season on Friday and if you’re still a little confused as to what documents you need, we’re here to help.
Do I need an explanation submit?
The good news is that most people who are eligible to submit a declaration will be automatically assessed and notified of the outcome, meaning you don’t have to do this at all do a lot. If you’re happy, you don’t even need to sign up and “accept”.

A negative amount indicates a refund If you use Sars- If you owe money, you can make a payment to eFiling via EFT or the Sars MobiApp by the due date stated on your tax return.
So what do you need if you want to review or edit your tax return?

Most just need an IRP5 from t Erben Employer, a health insurance certificate from your care provider, an RA certificate and IT3b and IT3c from investment companies or banks.
You may also need to submit driver’s logs, municipal accounts, receipts and pictures of your home – j It depends on what deductions you claim.
