The Hawks seized vehicle parts and accessories sold as suspected genuine Ford products worth R500,000 in Boksburg on the East Rand on Thursday.
The Hawks said their Intellectual Property Division work with a law A law firm specializing in trademark and counterfeiting cases conducted a search and seizure of three businesses trading at the Lifestyle Center.
The Hawks said the operation followed an investigation into companies dealing in counterfeit Vehicle parts and accessories acted as genuine Ford products.
“This search was preceded by a mystery purchase of products to obtain a successful search warrant, which was obtained.
“At the During the search, large quantities of vehicle parts and accessories bearing the Ford brand and logo were found at each of the three stores,” said Hawks spokesman Lt. Col. Philani Nkwalase.
He said the goods were b confiscated and transported to the designated counterfeit warehouse pending finalizations of the criminal and civil proceedings against the suspects.
“The suspected duo, aged 25 and 29, will receive a subpoena at a later stage for violating the Counterfeiting Act served.
Last month a Hawks investigation into a business selling counterfeit Volkswagen accessories in Gqeberha resulted in the owner being fined R17,000.
