‘He served with integrity’: Mzansi reflects on Mogoeng Mogoeng’s time as chief justice

Mogoeng Mogoeng has been described as a leader who has served with integrity, as many reflected on his tenure as Chief Justice on his final day of office on Monday.

Mogoeng’s 10-year term ended ahead of the judge of the court in 2009.

Mogoeng was the fourth chief judge of the SA since the dawn of democracy in 1994, according to the Constitutional Court website.

President Cyril Ramaphosa thanked Mogoeng for his outstanding leadership in promoting accountability.

After a decade of outstanding service and leadership, the presiding judge is leaving Mogoeng a rich legacy for our democratic culture, our justice system, the legal profession and ordinary South Africans.

“Chief Justice Mogoeng’s leadership inspired a judiciary that fearlessly held those in power to account and empathetic in need of individuals and groups in our society.

“The international Rega. in depth for the South African jurisprudence, for the integrity, effectiveness and efficiency of our democratic institutions and for the separation of powers enshrined in our constitution, ”said the President.

The IFP also thanked them at Mogoeng and conveyed good wishes to the next chairman who has not yet been appointed.
