The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is investigating the death of a Phoenix man who was shot dead during an alleged confrontation with police officers over his wife.
Ipid spokeswoman Grace Langa said the man did suffered a gunshot wound in his stomach – died in hospital on Wednesday after the alleged incident on Saturday.
Langa said officers from Verulam Police Station allegedly took members of the public to Phoenix.

Langa said Ipid was initially investigating a case of firing a gun, but as the man’s death would lead a homicide investigation.
