The Prime Minister of KwaZulu-Natal, Sihle Zikalala, has again called on the SAPS to arrest suspects who were involved in the murder of Hlengiwe Madlala, who was brutally murdered over the weekend.
Madlala was an employee of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Zikalala and other government officials visited Madlala’s house in Vulindlela near Pietermaritzburg this week to offer their condolences.
“This is a great loss to the prime minister and the government, but even more so to her family. It is sad that she cannot raise her children. We ask families to work with us in seeking justice.
“Let’s all work with the police while they investigate the case. The director general’s office will contact the authorities to ensure that the suspects are arrested, “Zikalala said during the visit.
The Prime Minister said his office would the family with funeral arrangements.
Madlala’s body was mutilated and, according to the provincial government, disposed of near her home.
On On Monday, TimesLIVE reported that Zikalala described the incident as a gruesome act of gender-based violence.
“After all, this is one of the most gruesome acts of gender-based violence (GBV) recently in the province perpetrated on a woman. Whoever did this was on a mission of murderous violence and did it coldly and calculatingly, ”said Zikalala
