KZN taxi boss targeted by unknown gunmen

A taxi driver was shot at on the M4 near La Mercy Tuesday night by gunmen who crashed their car and escaped.

Nazir Sadack of the Community Emergency Response Volunteer Team (CERT) told TimesLIVE They initially received an accident report.

The road damaged by the flooding was reopened to traffic on Saturday.

“When we arrived at the scene, we were We determined that it was not an accident but a shooting,” Sadack said.

CERT volunteers treated the wounded man before he was handed over to paramedics.

According to Medi Response, ” reports from the scene of the crime allegedly pulled a vehicle alongside the taxi owner’s vehicle and opened fire.

“The victim was hit by bullets and lost control of his vehicle, going off the road.


“The attackers are said to have done a U-turn, at this point s they crashed in their own vehicle. The attackers allegedly got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.”

The injured person was stabilized and taken to the hospital. Police are investigating.
