Limpopo detectives praised for putting two child rapists behind bars for life

It was a jubilant day for two Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses (FCS) sessions in Limpopo after two child rapists were beaten to life imprisonment earlier this week.

The two men were tried in the regional courts Mokerong and Musina on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

The first sentence came after an incident in July when a 32-year-old man raped his 11-year-old niece while visiting his house in Mossetjane, Ga -Kgobudi.

Limpopo police spokesman Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said after the ordeal that the man had escorted the victim to her house in the same village where she lives with her grandmother and confessed to it before moving Forgiveness asked.

“The next day, the grandmother went to the Mokopane Police Station with the victim and the defendant to report the matter. A rape case was opened and the man was arrested immediately.

“The case has been referred to the Mokopane FCS unit and assigned to Sgt Tina Motsimbi. Less than five months later, the man was found guilty of rape and sentenced to life in prison [in Mokerong District Court], “Mojapelo told TimesLIVE.

A 28-year-old man was beaten to life in prison on Tuesday after he was convicted of rape of a 12-year-old child in July 2019.

According to Mojapelo, the victim was waiting for her sister in Tshiungani village when the man approached her and threatened her with violence. < / p>

“He then dragged the child to an abandoned house, where he raped her. The victim managed to escape. On the way home, she met family members who were looking for her and told them about the incident. The defendant was arrested the next day. ”

The case was transferred to FCS and assigned to Sgt Mbavhalelo Vhengani. Justice was served more than two years later when the man was sentenced to life imprisonment by Musina Regional Court.

Limpopo’s top cop, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised both teams for doing them both Put child rapists behind bars.
