Man dies after car attacked and set alight in Grassy Park

A man was killed after a group of people attacked and set fire to the vehicle in which three men were traveling in Grassy Park, Cape Town, on Tuesday morning, Western Cape Police said.

The Police responded to an incident at the corner of Hyde Road and M5 in Parkwood around 11am.

On arrival police found a Toyota Avanza on fire and the body of an unidentified man who had died in the fire.

“According to reports, three unidentified men were driving in a Toyota Avanza in the area when they were arrested by community members were attacked, who then set fire to the vehicle. Two of the men in the vehicle were able to flee the scene,” police said in a statement.

No suspects were arrested.
