Gauteng police have arrested six suspects in a suspected ransom kidnapping case.
On Monday, police said they arrested six people, including them, between Saturday and the early hours of Monday morning believed they were linked to the kidnapping.
Col Dimakatso Sello said the group was allegedly involved in the Hillbrow kidnapping last Wednesday. The victim was arrested in an apparent kidnapping.
“A suspect believed to have been the mastermind behind several kidnapping incidents in and around the province is on three additional cases of kidnapping, kidnapping and extortion Bail free, “said Sello.
Police arrested two other suspects at different addresses in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, and three suspects were arrested at the house where the victim was found on Saturday.
Sello said the police had received information that the victim is being held in Crystal Park in Ekurhuleni. A sharp operation between the national and provincial crime service, the provincial prosecution unit, the provincial organized crime investigation, Hillbrow investigators and Ekurhuleni subway police led police to find the victim in the house.
“The victim was found with no visible evidence injuries found and taken to hospital for examination. He is reunited with his family, “said Sello.
The police superintendent of Gauteng, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, was relieved by the breakthrough.
