Man wanted in Gqeberha for ‘vehicle finance fraud’ traced to Western Cape

A 51-year-old man appeared in Gqeberha Magistrates’ Court on Friday on allegations of asset financing fraud.

Jerome Booysen, 51, was arrested by the Hawks’ Gqeberha Serious Commercial Crimes Investigation Team in Parow in the Western Cape.< /p>

It is alleged that on September 6, 2019, Booysen visited car dealerships in Gqeberha to buy an Audi A3 and a Ford Ranger LDV.

That’s what he reportedly has for submitted the documents required for vehicle financing.

The documents were forwarded to Absa Bank’s vehicle financing department and his application was approved.

Auto Traders delivered the two vehicles to Booysen.

< p>According to Hawks provincial spokeswoman Capt Yolisa Mgolodela, Booysen allegedly failed to pay a single monthly installment, prompting the bank to try to track him down.

The bank he allegedly set up was enough fraudulent documents that led to the loan approval of more than R468,000, Mgolodela said.

He was arrested at Parow Court, where he appeared in an unrelated fraud case.

Booysen appeared on Friday morning just before the District Court of Gqeberha and was remanded in custody until Monday due to a formal request for bail.
