Nine people suffered minor to moderate injuries when an 87-year-old man drove his vehicle through a butcher’s shop in Morningside, Durban on Tuesday.
The incident happened on the corner of Argyle Road and Seventh Avenue.
According to the store owner, the man was reversing his vehicle when he accidentally accelerated and crashed through the glass doors.
“That was them a few people are sitting in the shop, some children and other guests. It was a mistake, I’m just glad no one was seriously hurt.”
Paramedics at the scene treated eight people with minor injuries, while a 13-year-old girl was taken to hospital for further care.
