Police in Malamulele, Limpopo have launched a search for unknown suspects in the fire and robbery at Malamulele High School on Wednesday night.
Police spokesman Lt. Col. Mamphaswa Seabi said police are patrolling area when they noticed flames coming from the school grounds and proceeded to the scene.
“On arrival, the school was found to be on fire and the fire department was called. The school gates were locked and police broke the padlocks to gain access to the premises and found that the staff room block — which housed stationery, laptop computers, printing presses and other items — was on fire,” Seabi said /p>
It was also discovered that a classroom where the school was storing packets of food had been broken into. Packages were missing and others were scattered around the premises.
“A hole in the school’s wire fence was discovered and next to it were some food packages that had been dropped or left behind by the suspects.”
