Eskom says Stage 2 load shedding will be implemented on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. as the power system is severely constrained.
Earlier on Monday, Eskom had warned that the Power system could be limited during the evening peak with the possibility of short-term load shedding in case of equipment failure.
The utility said it had enough capacity to meet daytime demand but was concerned about the peak periods, demand increases when electricity is available.
“We urge all South Africans to use electricity sparingly, especially in the mornings between 5am and 9am and in the evenings between 4pm and 10pm. We have 3,049 MW for scheduled maintenance while another 14,985 MW is unavailable due to outages,” said Eskom.
