Large flocks of locusts were seen in a number of areas in the Northern Cape on Wednesday.
The province had expected huge flocks during the rainy season towards the end of last year, and Agri Northern Cape said late last year that farmers are prepared for the pests and do not expect a disaster.
Jane Möller of Agri Northern Cape Risk Management said on Wednesday that a large part of the Northern Cape was affected.
” There are large flying swarms in the south-east of the North Cape, ”said Möller.
In November, the North Cape’s Ministry of Agriculture announced the first brown grasshopper outbreak in ZF Mgcawu. known and Pixley ka Seme districts.
At this point, the department said they expected further outbreaks in other districts.
