Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company’s cableway operations will be suspended beginning July 25 to allow for infrastructure safety maintenance.
The shutdown is scheduled through August 28.
“This year’s process is extensive and complex, which will require a five-week complete shutdown as this year’s scheduled work cannot be completed between normal operations,” said MD Wahida Parker.
Emile Streicher, the company’s Technical Director said: “The focus this year is on the suspension cables, which carry most of the weight of the cable cars, as well as the brackets on which the cabins are suspended and the hydraulic braking system at the substation.”
