The case of a teenager accused of murder after the fatal stabbing of a classmate in Alexandra, Johannesburg, has been postponed to October.
The matter was retried in Children’s Court on Wednesday Phindi Mjonondwane, spokesman for the National Prosecutor’s Office (NPA) said the postponement was needed for further investigation.
The 15-year-old was charged with the murder of a student on school premises after the death of a schoolboy.
The incident took place during a school brawl during lunch break in which the defendant allegedly picked up a sharp object and stabbed the victim.
The school where the incident was flagged as one of the problematic schools in Gauteng, who was plagued by gangsterism and drugs.
The education staff from Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi visited the school the day after the incident and said they had been notified by the community since ss the alleged perpetrator was not a first-time perpetrator.
