Three men burned in a gruesome murder in the north-west.
Police spokeswoman Brig Sabata Mokgwabone said members of the community in the village of Morokweng, outside Vryburg, in Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati was reportedly arrested Tuesday afternoon leaving a house with three men.
“Reports say members of the community went to a rented house in the Ga-Mokgopha section where the three men lived. The house was allegedly stoned and while fleeing the attack, the victims reportedly stabbed and injured some of the attackers.
“The Die Gruppe pursued and caught the men accused of drug trafficking. They were taken back to the house, which was eventually set on fire with the trio inside.
” The victims, aged between 22 and 36, were burned and died in the home.”
A murder, kidnapping and arson case has been opened.Investigations are ongoing. No one has been arrested yet.
Provincial Police Commissioner Lt. Gen. Sello Kwena said: “What happened in Morokweng is inhumane, totally unacceptable and must be condemned. No human should be brutally attacked by another, regardless of the nature of the allegation.”
Taking the law into one’s own hands is unlawful, said Kwena . “Those who commit such acts will be treated accordingly.”
Mokgwabone said police remain in the area to restore order and members of the community are urged to remain calm and Working with the police through the Community Policing Forum (CPF) to identify those behind these appalling acts is acknowledged.
