Kabega Park police officers are on the hunt for about six men allegedly robbing young ice hockey players at a Beverly Grove guest house in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gqeberha hosted the SA-U21- Ice hockey inter-provincial tournament at the weekend.
According to police, some players are said to have retired to their rooms early on Saturday night.
Just after midnight, two girls who were sharing a room were woken up by three unidentified men in her room.
One had a gun and the other had two knives.
The girls had their hands tied with cables and their room ransacked.
A short time later, two more teenagers were led into the room and also tied up with cable ties.
The suspects were surprised by the manager and other team players who had entered the guest house through the sliding door.
< p>The manager screamed and the suspects ran out through the sliding door. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Clothes, cell phones, SIM cards, laptops, a wireless router, an iPad, and cash were stolen.
Entry was obtained by force Opening the sliding door.
The ice hockey team is from Gauteng.
A business robbery case is being investigated.
Police are urging second-hand good dealers and the community to to be vigilant when someone approaches them to sell any of the above items.
Purchasing stolen property is a criminal offense and anyone who receives stolen property may be charged and prosecuted .
