A Durban businessman was allegedly detained by his kidnappers for seven days before his family received a R10 million ransom note.
Police spokesman Col Thembeka Mbele said the police were in on Monday Bloemfontein arrested two men aged 48 for the July kidnapping.
“It is alleged that the 60-year-old male victim left his premises on Umgeni Road in Durban on July 8, 2021 when it was attacked by four armed men and forced to get into their vehicle.
“He had been held hostage for seven days when the family received a ransom note of R10 million for his release.”
Last week the police trusted the money on a family in Bloemfontein.
“A plan of action was drawn up and they drove to Bainsvlei in Bloemfontein, where they arrested two suspects.
“The police seized electronic items, two i rifles and a 9mm firearm for investigations.
“The investigation team is still looking for the remaining suspects who were involved in the kidnapping.”
The two men a Am They are expected to appear in court on Thursday for kidnapping and extortion.
