Two men arrested for murder of business exec suffocated in her home

Police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of Cape Union Mart’s IT manager Renée Jain last year at her home on a private natural property.

The bust was made by Western Cape organized crime investigators in Tulbagh in the early hours of Wednesday.

The suspects, aged 21 and 23, are charged with murder and aggravated robbery, police spokesman Andrè Traut said.

Jain’s body was discovered at around 11:45pm on 26 March 2021 at her home in De Vierde Liefde nature reserve in Wolseley, after her neighbors suffered a home robbery committed by their alleged killers.

The suspects fled the scene in a Nissan X-Trail they allegedly took during the robbery. This vehicle and other stolen items were recovered by police the next day at Wolseley Cemetery.

An autopsy revealed that Jain was attacked and suffocated by her attackers.

“The Careful investigation by detectives and the gathering of forensic evidence uncovered the identities of the suspects, who are now scheduled to face charges in Wolseley Magistrate’s Court tomorrow [Thursday],” Traut said.
