Four people were trapped in a vehicle when it crashed off a flood-damaged road on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal on Monday night.
Medi Response said the driver was unfamiliar with the recent floods Parts of M4 removed at Desainager.
“Medics from Medi Response responded to reports of an accident on the M4 near Desainager. On arrival it was found that a vehicle, driven by a person unfamiliar with recent events in the area, was traveling on the road and crashed into a pit where the M4 was washed away,” it said.
The Community Emergency Response Team arrived quickly and was able to extricate four people from the vehicle, which had landed on the roof.
“Medics from the hospital from Medi Response and Lenmed eThekwini were working on the stabilize the injured. Two people were critically injured and two were moderately injured. The injured were transported to nearby medical facilities.”
