CCTV footage shared online has left viewers open-mouthed on Monday, after a pair of hijackers in Boksburg were captured on camera carrying out their nefarious deeds. The criminal duo hold their victims hostage in the back of the vehicle, before escaping through a security gate and making a break for it.
Boksburg pair targeted by carjackers
The clip, which has been viewed thousands of times since it was uploaded on Sunday night, paints a harrowing picture of ‘carjacking culture’ in Gauteng. These thugs see an opportunity when they realise the gates to a home complex have not been shut. They advance on the unsuspecting couple, forcing the driver out of the car in the process.
A passenger who’d exited the motor earlier was also threatened and robbed at gunpoint. The grainy footage shows the helpless civilian hand over some of his possessions to the hijackers. From there, the driver is forced into the back seat of the car, and the second victim is also marched back inside the car just before it speeds off.
